Knaresborough Cycling Club 2019 Membership Registration and Kit Try On and Buy Night!

Hi Members, we’ve organised a social night on March 20th at Knaresborough Cricket Club where you have the opportunity to do three things in one evening; 1. Re-register with the club for 2019, 2. Find out about forthcoming events, (and request others), and 3. Get a chance to try on Force GB kit to give you confidence in ordering our Knaresborough Cycling Club kit so you can fly the flag with club colours on our Sunday rides.

The event will take place in the Lounge Bar at the Cricket Club on Aspin Lane from 7.30 to 9.15pm. There is space to park and its a comfortable, warm and relaxed setting to enjoy a drink, talk all things cycling and order yourself some fancy kit for the new season – BECAUSE YOU’RE WORTH IT!

See you there!

All in the ride would be something around 30 miles or so.

Hope to see you there!

Fast Ride
Here is the Fast group ride for Sunday, its 55 miles out to Tadcaster and back via Whixley hopefully with the wind behind on the way back. Not as lumpy as last week, and we should be able to get back for c.1pm even if we want a brief stop. Cheers

Club Rides – Sunday 4th November

RIDES START AT 9:30am

As its coming up to Bonfire Night I was thinking of doing a trip to York in view of the subtle link with Guy Fawkes. Probably a stop at the NT cafe at Beningbrough as we havent been to that cafe yet (free tea or coffee if you buy a cake for anyone who has cycled there!).

All in, with a visit to York, and return via Tockwith etc thats going to be just short of 50 flat miles – which would mean we would be late getting back

If the weather is rubbish then we can do something much shorter – possibly no cafe stop if its that bad.

The start time is now 9:30 – which helps!

See you there!

Ian

Better late than never. Bryan’s away in Cumbria so I’m afraid it’s just me tomorrow. Not sure about the weather but how’s about Fewston Heritage Centre unless the weather is bad in which case something shorter, maybe Benningborough. Led by Richard

Hello Fast Group. For this Sunday’s ride I suggest a 48 miler up Wharfedale to Askwith, up and over the Moor to Fewston and back via Brackenthwaite and Panal. Maybe a brew at Washburn Heritage Centre Fewston if time permits. Here is the route: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/21419474.
Any takers?

Club Rides – Sunday 28th October

Dont forget the clocks change this weekend. Starttime is still 9:00 until next week.

Dash to Dishforth

I thought this week we could try the Dash to Dishforth – (or DishDash for short). This would be a route out through Bishop Monkton, Littlethorpe and Ripon – with a cafe stop at Olivers or Booths. Then coming back towards Dishforth and the Airfield, Marton le Moor and Boroughbridge. There’s a few new roads in this one so anything could happen.

If all goes well and we dont get lost it should be about 30 miles – and pretty flat.

See you there!

Team Easy – Away Weekend – Berwick

This coming Sunday and Monday is the second away weekend of the year – this time we are going to Berwick and coming down the coast following the Coasts & Castles Sustrans route with an overnight in Alnwick before continuing on through Druridge Bay into Newcastle.

For those taking the various trains from York to Berwick at around 9:00, we can meet up at Filmore & Union in York Station near where the Knaresborough train gets in. Some are driving to Newcastle and catching the train from there – in which case we will meet you at Berwick station. For info we are booked on the 9:00 train from York which should get in to Berwick at about 11:06.

For those not doing the 2 day ride – just meet up at the car park as normal and choose a ride and a leader on the day.

See you there!

Ian
